MacOS – nything (like iOS) that emulate force touch for older MacBook

In iOS, there are tweaks (available through Cydia) that enables force touch features (such as menus) on older iPhones by touching and holding an item to emulate force touch.

Are there any available on OS X ?

If that matters, I own a late-2013 MacBook Pro

If the sensor isn't there in the hardware, there is no way to enable the function.

It's the equivalent of trying to tun an old CRT television into a touch screen
[though that has actually been done, but not without some very expensive extra hardware]

iOS Simulator 5.0 and 5.1 do not work on Mavericks. See this, granted you have a developer account with Apple.

The iOS simulator does not duplicate some of the low-level parts of iOS. For example, it uses the host OS X's kernel instead of trying to virtualize the iOS kernel. The iOS simulator requires that these subsystems look sufficiently similar between the simulated iOS and the host OS X. When a new host OS X changes too much it can break old simulators. At that point somebody makes an engineering and cost decision to either update the old simulator or drop support for it.

MacOS – Debugging Freezes

First thing is, after a reboot, to look at /var/log/system.log.

Search from the end for BOOT_TIME. This is the first entry after your mac reboots. Now go up to read the lines above. This might give you a clue what happened right before the mac had frozen.

To take a look at more logfiles, go to /var/log and list them with

ls -ltr

This will sort them by time so that newest files are at the bottom. If you can't find something helpful inside system.log you might have a chance when looking at the logs that have been written around freeze time (or later).
