MacOS – MacBook Pro does not go into sleep mode after upgrading to Yosemite

Here are 2 simple tools to use:

• Open Console in the Utility.

Type Wake Reason in the search window.

That one will display who is waking up your computer.

• In Terminal (also in Utility folder)

Type pmset -g assertions

That one will tell you your sleep mode settings (and possibly show who is waking it up)

You can copy and paste that information in here if you want us to look at it.

Update:

Please disable the MagicWake and try without it!

You can do that with: Sytem Preferences, Energy Saver then uncheck the Wake For Ethernet network access, and the MAGICWAKE should disappear!

Please make sure you also check your Macbook for excessive dust inside!

I have a Macbook pro which shutdown randomly (and gave the shutdown cause -128 error, and also the reference code PPT004 - the battery requires service). When I cleaned the build up dust it started functioning normally again!

I just removed the backplate and used a can of compressed air to clean it. Check https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac_Laptop to see how you can remove the backplate of your model.

PS: Try not to touch any parts inside, because of static discharge
