The keyboard shortcut "Show Notification Center" you can set under System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Mission Control stopped working for me after a restart.
I tried resetting to defaults, changing the short cut and finally exiting all running apps and processes – nothing seems to bring back the short cut.
Does anybody know how to debug this or a plist where I can manually edit this?
Restart Dock, of which Mission Control is a child process. In terminal, run:
killall Dock
When you go to Gmail in Safari 6, you should see this at the top:
That should enable alerts in Notification Center. You could also set up your Gmail in Mail.app.
On Apple's website for Mountain Lion, it says:
Facebook integration coming this fall.
So it may be a few weeks still before you can use Facebook with Notification Center.
