I switched to Mac recently. The only thing that's disturbing me until now is the missing of the tilde sign (~). The closest thing I achieved to this sign is the accent tilde (˜). My passwords are not satisfied with that second little tilde sign.
I'm using a U.S International PC keyboard layout.
How do I make the tilde sign work on my Mac?
Option-U does work under Dvorak -- but you have to use the Dvorak key-mappings, so really it becomes Option-F.

It hasn't been updated in six years, so no guarantee it will work on the latest versions of OS X.

Edit: the method above seems to have stopped working in 10.9. This worked in both 10.9 or 10.8 though:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.HIToolbox.plist (in 10.9) or ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.HIToolbox.*.plist (in 10.8 and earlier). You can convert the plist to XML with plutil -convert xml1.AppleEnabledInputSources dictionary. If there is an AppleDefaultAsciiInputSource key, remove it.
