I need to save an image as Windows Bitmap BMP A1R5G5B5 16bpp.
Source files are 32bpp image files (PNG and/or Windows Bitmap).
Preview saves bmp images at 32 bits per pixel (bpp).
XnConvert saves bmp images at 24bpp.
Imagemagick, Acorn, GraphicConverter do not support saving images at 16bpp.
Photoshop can do it, but I don't own it.
Any ideas?
GUI or command line is fine for me.
The release notes for CUPS 1.5 mention that
CUPS no longer supports the old ~/.cupsrc or ~/.lpoptions files from CUPS 1.1.x. The ~/.cups/client.conf and ~/.cups/lpoptions files that were introduced in CUPS 1.2 must now be used.
Have you tried putting the line
ServerName print-server
into ~/.cups/client.conf?
Preview, built into macOS, has a few tools for doing this. First, open the image in Preview (the default app for images), then choose the Annotate button on the toolbar.
Options for obfuscating:
Use a selection tool to make a selection on the image, then press Backspace to delete that area. For filetypes which support transparency, the area will be removed, otherwise it will be saved as white.
Use a rectangle or other shape and set a fill colour.

GIMP has the A1R5G5B5 option when using Export Image as BMP > Advanced Options
For images without any transparency A1R5G5B5 will be greyed out.
Use X1R5G5B5, also 16bpp format, for images without transparency.
