When I search Google for an app, for example "Wakeout!", I get this search result:
When I click on it, this alert opens up:
I click Cancel, I don't want to open the App Store. But this is what I end up getting:
And now I'm stuck here. How can I display the page without starting the App Store app with Chrome?
I was experiencing the same problem: unable to purchase or update any items from the App Store, with an error code (13).
I came across another thread here - Cannot Install or Update Apps in App Store - Error 13 app-store-error-13 - which basically suggests deleting a cookie-preferences file for the App Store. I tried it, and it indeed worked for me.
The steps are:
1) quit the App Store app, if it's open.
2) delete the file, which will be in: ~/Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.plist
3) restart the App Store app, and try purchasing or downloading/updating something.

Is there any mention of the app or the page in ~/Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.plist? At least one other AskDifferent user had trouble with this file and solved the problem by deleting it - maybe that should be the last resort though.
You can also enable "debug mode" in the Mac App Store by doing defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -boolean YES - when you have done that you will see a new menu:
I would try Clear Cookies first, and if that doesn't help, Reset Application.

Found the solution. You must mark the "Always allow apps.apple.com to open links of this type in the associated app" checkbox and click "Cancel" button. Then it will stop appearing.
