MacOS – How to disable notifications for the US Holidays calendar

I'm running MacOS High Sierra, and in the last few days it has started sending me notifications for US Holidays on the day before the holiday (I was notified about Valentine's Day and President's Day, but not about MLK Day last month). In Preferences I have notifications for all-day events set to None, which is the advice given in this Quora answer. It doesn't seem possible to edit the alert settings for individual events in this calendar.

The only change I've made recently is that added a subscription to our company's Outlook calendar. It also has a US Holidays calendar, but I have it unchecked, so I only see the holidays that come from Apple.

In the sidebar on the left, right click the appropriate calendar add-in & select Get Info.

Yes. This should work. As you are aware, when you (or the Facebook contact) inputs their birthday into the contact, iOS creates a new calendar called "Birthdays". On both iOS and OSX you have control over the notifications that you receive for each birthday that is on that calendar.

Like you said you could can go and turn of the notifications which should prevent notifications from actually appearing. Note, however that the birthdays should still show in Notification Center.

You can also disable the Birthday calendar on your iOS device altogether by opening the Calendar.app, tapping "Calendars" in the upper left corner, and scrolling down to and tapping on "Birthdays". You will see the check mark next to it disappear and the birthdays will no longer show in your calendar.

It, of course, would be easy to turn them back on temporarily in the future if you wanted to look up someone's birthday.

And here is the way I used it:

From Calendar, export a given calendar through:

File > Export > Export...

let's say it is: Documents/Calendar/2015/professionnal.ics

NB.: this will be a backup in case of problem, and a much more practical one than any file manipulation with the help of Time Machine
Install the above script as:

~/Documents/Calendar/src/duplicate.pl
```

Go in directory to test for fixed version, for example:

mkdir ~/Documents/Calendar/2015.fixed
cd ~/Documents/Calendar/2015.fixed

Run duplicate.pl:
```
../src/duplicate.pl <../2015/professionnal.ics
```
which will display the number of events read and the number of duplicate found and create here a fixed version of the calendar:

~/Documents/Calendar/2015.fixed/professionnal.ics
```
Compare the result with the original corrupted version to check everything is OK:

 diff ../2015/professionnal.ics .
```
Within Calendar select the calendar professionnal and delete it through:

Edit > Delete
Import the fixed one through:

File > Import > Import...
