I have upgraded a Snow Leopard system to Mavericks. I expected to see the LaunchPad icon (spaceship icon used to launch installed apps) on the Dock, but it is not there.
How do I add that icon? I have it on a Lion system and I also see screenshots of Mavericks that have it so I don't think it's gone.
When booted from the Snow Leopard install drive, you should be able to create a new partition from the partition tab.
To add an application to Launchpad, you can simply drag it to Launchpad in the Dock.
But be careful — currently there's no way to remove something from Launchpad that you've added.
(And if you have items in a folder in Launchpad, you can easily drag them out and organize them as you wish.)

Launchpad.appis located in your/ApplicationFolder.You can either
navigate with the Finder to your
/ApplicationFolder and drag it to your docksearch
Launchpad.appin Spotlight and CMD+Click the App. Your Finder will open and you can drag the App to your dock
