MacOS – Downloaded InstallMacOSX.pkg gives an error of “This version of OSX 10.11 cannot be installed on this computer.” Why

I downloaded InstallMacOSX.pkg to create a bootable USB drive and install OSX El Capitan on a separate computer. That computer was shipped with El Capitan.

So, I am not installing it on the computer that is creating the bootable USB drive. Why does it assume that the OS is being installed on the computer that is creating the bootable drive ?

So in order to create the bootable USB drive, I have to run it on a computer that is also running El Capitan, which is weird.

Is there any way around this? I'm thinking of maybe using Pacifist?

Can't you just do a reinstall of macOS on the other Mac by reinstalling OS X El Capitan that came with a Mac. This link will explain: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904.

Also, make sure that the disk is formatted HFS or HFS+ not APFS.

Redownloaded (three times)
Tried moving the .app to Desktop
Changed permissions of .app
Verified the .dmg with hdiutil
Used different Mac

Eventually got it to work by using a different USB flash drive. My original USB was a 16 GB Kingston, the second I tried that also didn't work was a 8 GB Lexar. The third and final one that did not get the "mount of outer dmg failed" error is a PNY 8 GB.

For reference I used the command:

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan\ Public\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan\ Public\ Beta.app --nointeraction

MacOS – Why does this cause Mac OSX to print over SSH

Terminal.app probably implements the "media copy" (printer) escape sequence from VT100s. You can read about those control sequences at vt100.net, or in the XTerm Control Sequences, e.g.,

CSI Pm i  Media Copy (MC).
        Ps = 0  -> Print screen (default).
        Ps = 4  -> Turn off printer controller mode.
        Ps = 5  -> Turn on printer controller mode.
CSI ? Pm i
      Media Copy (MC, DEC-specific).
        Ps = 1  -> Print line containing cursor.
        Ps = 4  -> Turn off autoprint mode.
        Ps = 5  -> Turn on autoprint mode.
        Ps = 1  0  -> Print composed display, ignores DECPEX.
        Ps = 1  1  -> Print all pages.
