MacOS – Can’t install theEclipse on MacBook Pro with Yosemite

After updating to Yosemite, I find that I can't install myEclipse again.

Installation error:insufficient memory,zero virtual memory.

I also tried the sysctl vm.swapusage command, the result is

vm.swapusage: total = 0.00M used = 0.00M free = 0.00M (encrypted)`

Does anyone know the solution?

Download the installer again. MyElcipse 2015 CI 6 has been rebuilt to solve this problem.

I had the same problem. You have to drag the file from finder into terminal to get the official name of the installer. The end result is something like /Applications/Install OS\ X\ Yosemite.app

At least that is what worked for me.

MacOS – Turn Virtual Memory Swapping back on in Yosemite

Figured it out! I had to force the OS to create a swap file using this command in terminal:

memory_pressure -l critical

It will run a test to force your RAM usage to climb. Open Activity Monitor to watch its progress and it will show the swap file being created. Ctrl+C will stop the process in terminal. Now the virtual memory swapping works again.
