In mission control, I couldn't see Application names below thumbnails if the cursor is somewhere else. See this image.
If I move the cursor onto any thumbnail, then I'm seeing the application name.
Is there any setting that enables even if the cursor isn't hovering on the app thumbnail. Like images in this answer. Desktop 1, Mail, Desktop 2, Desktop 3 are appearing all at once and cursor isn't on those thumbnails.

Restart Dock, of which Mission Control is a child process. In terminal, run:
killall Dock
During your app expose, you can hover the mouse on the window you want and press the Space Bar to enlarge it allowing you to have a sneak peak in full size. It works in mission control too.
Also in mission control you can move your mouse to the app and scroll up to scatter the app windows, then you can use the Space Bar to have a sneak peak of the window at full size.

It turns out once we have over 12 or so spaces it starts to have this zoom-on-hover effect with the space descriptions hidden. We cannot change this behavior. Source.
