MacOS – Admin in Terminal, logged on Family’s session

I have a weird problem. I'm trying to connect on my VPN with Mac 10.7.5 (Java 7 U45, Citrix Receiver 11.8) but when I do, JSam is not able to write in Hosts file.

So my Mac session is called "Family" but when I go in Terminal and type whoami, I get: Admin.

My question is, is it normal and if not, how can I see "Family" in Terminal? Or, how can I give proper rights to Family or Admin so when I connect on my office VPN, Citrix will be able to write in hosts file.

Host mapping - "JSAM modifies the hosts file if you choose Automatic host-mapping under Users > User Roles > Role > SAM > Options > Java SAM Options" (from here). Which is apparently running on the server side. If you are managing the server, try disabling host mapping unless you need it. At the very least, disable it temporarily and see if everything else works as expected. (If you can do everything you need without host mapping, then leave it turned off.)

Looks like if hosts file modification is enabled, the client needs to run as admin or root (see here) and should be prompting you for the admin password for your account on launch. If your local account does not have administrative permissions, then it would not be able to modify the hosts file. You'd need to log in as an administrator, not a user.

You haven't made it clear whether Terminal output is from your local machine or the remote one.

I was able to run the client making some modification to the wireless router configuration:

The DHCP server now gives addresses that start with 192.168.2 instead of the old 192.168.1
The subnet mask of the local IP address is now 255.255.0.0
You run OSX in 32 bit mode keeping the 3 key pressed during boot

After these changes the subsequent call to SNX (configured as described above) was able to associate the proper IP address (that in my configuration was 192.168.1.33, last number changes from connection to connection) to the en7 interface created by SNX and so I've a valid IP address for the router on the 192.168.2 network and one for the office on the 192.168.1 network.

I'm still convinced that something can be done using also the ifconfig command to properly assign IP address, but for now having a connection it's enough for me, I'm posting the result of ifconfig if someone can describe me how to proceed:

MacOS – Cisco Smart Tunnel crashes Safari. Can it be made to work on Mac OS X

As of May 30, 2012, Smart Tunnel on OS X 10.7 is officially not supported by Cisco and it looks like it won't be an easy fix to support it because it shares many attributes of the Flasback Trojan. I use VMware Fusion to run a Windows VM on my Mac for just this sort of thing.
