Macbook wakes up at 1am

My Macbook pro has been in sleep with open lid and power. It suddenly waked up at 1am midnight. Screen is off actually. But fan started making loud noise, which made me believe it's up. After I closed the lid and unplugged power, fan noise stopped. What is happening here?

It's on Mojave.

In SystemPreferences->Energy Saver->PowerAdapter: uncheck "put harddisks to sleep when possible" (this is/was meant for HDD not SSD) uncheck "Wake for network access" !!

in "schedule..." bottom right side: uncheck the two possibilities. Restart after that to be sure. That should do it.

The sleep sensor or MLB is likely faulty. A visit to the genius bar might be a good next step. Also posting the system.log sleep messages might help us determine the reason the mac is triggering sleep - search for "cause" using the console.app

EDIT: Thanks for adding the console messages - the system is certainly getting a signal telling it the display is shut. It's possible (but very unlikely) a new OS install from scratch would let the system read the sensor properly (software corruption can never be ruled out without trying a clean install). It's very likely the component in your mac housing the sleep sensor went bad as when the sensor fails on it's typically the sensor and not the cable or logic board at fault.

It is possible to determine what caused the system to wake

Open Console (/Applications/Utilities/Console)
Set the search filter to 'wake'

You're looking for the latest entry that has something like this:

Wake reason = EC LID0
```
(In the example above, opening the display clamshell caused the machine to be woken)
