I currently own a Macbook pro (Retina 13",mid 2014)
2.6GHz Intel Core i5
8GB 1600 Mhz DDR3
Intel Iris 1536 mb
3 x 22" Samsung Monitors. 2 of them running through Thunderbolt to DVI-D adapter.
The 3 monitor i have tried using both a DVI-D to HDMI convertor and USB to DVI convertor.
But i just can't get the 3rd monitor to run. Any thoughts?? Is my specs not enough to run all the monitors?

You can run only 2 external monitors. If you want you can also run the MacBook Pro monitor, achieving in this way the 3 monitors configuration.
The only way to run 3 external monitors is to use an external graphic card to connect the third monitor.
This answer comes from personal experience and Apple technical details. I've the same model and I've tested all the possible combinations, also trying passive and active DVI connections.
Yes, Flawlessly!!!! in the image there is a lie the 2560 x 1080 is not 34-inches is 25-inches and that one is connected trough display link usb-hdmi adapter from toshiba, the 3440 x 1440 is 34-inches but you need thunderbolt cable, the macbook air early 2014 can run them both! Super happy!!! to the toshiba adapter I can even plug another 1920 x 1080, so I wonder if through daisy chain it can run two 34 inch... well the answer is yes!!

It looks like your computer can only drive up to two external displays (officially, at least). https://support.apple.com/kb/SP703?locale=en_US
