MacBook – mobi file on Kindle – MacPro & MacBook

I bought an electronic book. I downloaded the mobi version of the book. And loaded it into my kindle-macPro. Started reading it, highlighting, etc…worked great.

Then I wanted to read the book on my macbook. Opened up kindle on my macbook and the book wasn't there. So, I copied the file from my kindle directory, loaded into kindle, it opened up, but it didn't have any of my hightlights.

I do not own a kindle device.

Is there an easier way for me to share the book across multiple machines?

I would recommend using the Send to Kindle program from Amazon for synchronization. It has options to send to other devices (like your macs.)

I didn't enjoy Calibre. But then I realised that it comes with a bunch of command line utilities, and that made things easier for me.

Imagine you have a bunch of epub files.

for f in *.epub
do
  anytomobi --dest-profile=Kindle "$files"
done

That's the Linux command line to convert them all to mobi using the calibre tool. Except I think the command line toold have changed name in the newest release.

MacBook – Could aluminium dust inside a Macbook Air create a short circuit

Loctite make a range of semi-permanent gunks for "gluing" screws in place. A good hardware shop (on-line or in real life) would help.

There would have to be a lost of dust for it to be a problem.
