Macbook Air 13″ (2017) keeps shutting down

batterycharging

I'm aware this has been asked before, but didn't find for my specific model. Anyways, the problem started a couple weeks ago when the battery was below more or less 50%, but in the last couple days this worsen and it turns off when the battery is at any level below 80%.

When I connect the charger and start again, it shows a battery level of 60-70%, sometimes the battery level jumps weirdly from one level to another, like 42% to 64%.

I'm aware that the battery has had a lot of uses, my cycle count is around 740 cycles, and system report notifies "Service Recommended". Nevertheless Apple page says expected life for this battery model is 1000 cycles, and really didn't expect to start failing this early and with this extreme behavior.

Here comes my question, will a calibration of the battery hopefully solve this issues? (until obviously it reaches >1000 cycles). Tried resetting SMC (as here), didn't work (but also I'm not sure how to verify that I did the reset correctly).

I purchased the macbook new in march 2019 in official premium reseller (since in my country Apple does not have direct representation). Also I know that I might have to replace the battery, but I live in an EME country, and do not know if this is going to be very expensive, so in the short term it's not an option.

Thanks!

PD, here's my battery system report:

  Charge Information:
  Charge Remaining (mAh): 3057
  Fully Charged: No
  Charging: Yes
  Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 4130
  Health Information:
  Cycle Count: 745
  Condition: Service Recommended
  Battery Installed: Yes
  Amperage (mA): 1954
  Voltage (mV): 8429

If helpful, I noted that "Full charge capacity" changes sometimes dramatically when I check it from time to time (this is the same symptom as the battery level jumping from one to another completely different, I think)

Exact model: MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017)
Running on: Catalina 10.15.7
