Mac – How to package Quicklook plugins for AppStore

I developed a bunch of specialized Quicklook plugins and would like to share them through the App store. Is there a way of packaging them and distributing them through the App Store?

Put them inside MyApp.app/Contents/Library/QuickLook/

When Quick Look searches for a generator to use, it first looks for it in the bundle of the associated application and then in the standard file-system locations (...)

If You do not have any app and only the plugins, I think you can make a single view application describing the plugins or something like this. However I can't find the reference for this.

Detach the QuickLook window from the Finder

Yes Thilo, there is a way. It will require a bit of command line wizardry though. As long as you're not allergic you can do the following:

Open Terminal.app
Change directories to the location of the file you want to view using QuickLook.
- For example, if the file you want to view using QuickLook is on your desktop you would type: "cd ~/Desktop" (no quotes, caps matter, and ~ is a shortcut to your home directory).
Now type: "qlmanage -p filename.pdf" (replacing filename with the name of your file and pdf with the extension of your file).

A new icon will appear in your Dock called "qlmanage". This is the helper application that is usually launched headlessly by the Finder. By launching it from the command line it becomes accessible via the Dock, Command-Tab etc.

Just for the record (and the curios) this little application is stored deep in the OS where mortals are not meant to tread at this location:

/System/Library/Frameworks/QuickLook.framework/Versions/A/Resources/quicklookd.app/Contents/MacOS

Whenever I want a new Quicklook plugin, I look through three places:

Neither of the third party quick look plugin sites list any results for 'ogg' or 'vorbis', and the link to bravobug.com in a MacWorld forum post no longer works either because the domain has been squatted, or the blog software has just become completely overrun by spam, which is also why I didn't actually link directly to blog post.

Xiph (the company responsible for OGG and so much more) created the XiphQT components forever ago, but they haven't been updated in years, and there's no updates to suggest QLPlugins or anything else of the sort.

It seems like this does not exist. Unfortunately.
