Mac – How to find out the status of a large download from the Mac App Store

1. Quit App Store app.

2. Delete ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore folder.

3. To avoid App Store still display you have downloaded x bytes of y bytes, four solutions :

   • Disregards.
   • Kill storeagent process (type killall storeagent into Terminal).
   • Logout / login.
   • Reboot.

With Lion it's shadowed under random folder /private/var/folders/<three level random folders>/com.apple.appstore/<again random folder name>/<apple server name package>.pkg. Well…

1. Open Launchpad.
2. Find your app.
3. Keep alt key down.
4. Click on cross to delete it.

The App Store tells you how long something that you have just purchased will take to download.

Once the purchase has been made, just switch to the Purchases tab, and see the progress bar and the time estimate.

Obviously for large files, the estimate is based on how much more data is left to download divided by the current download rate; so your estimated download time will vary as the transfer of the file progresses.

The same is true for downloads on the Updates tab also.
