iTunes – How to Stop Playback After Current Song

Because I might just want to go to bed after this one song (but don't want to stop it midway – It's a classic).

Edit: Found a workaround in iTunes 11, a two-click solution but it works. See my answer.

Click on the Up Next button and press clear. It will stop after the current song regardless where you start the song from.

iTunes 12

"Clear" is at the end of the Up Next list, rather than the top, so you'll have to take the extra step of scrolling to the bottom.

I had the same problem (with a similar number of songs -10742) after clearing the search box. What worked for me was clicking the curved arrow button on the right hand side of the little box, at the top of the iTunes screen, that shows the currently playing song, and its progress. This button returns the screen to the library location of the currently playing song. I'm currently running iTunes 10.5.3 on a 64-bit MacBook Pro. Hope this helps.

One option would be to save this script to ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/iTunes/ in AppleScript Editor and give it a shortcut with FastScripts.

Without the try block there would be an error dialog if for example the selection was empty.
