For my “drive to work” shortcut I would like to continue playing whatever podcast I last listened to. There isn’t a shortcut for this so I have to say “hey Siri play podcasts” which achieves the above.
Is there a way to pass that string to Siri so she executes it automatically in a shortcut, rather than having to say it out loud?
Yay my first Shortcuts question!
Use the Dictate Text action.
This action will convert words you speak into to text and pass that text to the next action.
Currently, there is a bit of down side: You will not be able tell Siri in one sentence "Tell [Shortcut Trigger], Apples are cool" Instead you need to do it in two parts "[Shortcut Trigger]" wait... "Apples are cool".
Warning: Make sure to pick a language or it will silently fail.
Shortcuts allows for this, but not with the default Siri voice.
In order to add speech into your Shortcut, you need to add two objects into your script.
First: "Text". Second: "Speak Text".
The following screenshot should help. Alter the contents of the Text box to your liking, and tweak the language, speed and rate to your liking in Speak Text. Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to add existing Siri commands to shortcuts. Siri Shortcuts doesn't support Podcasts actions either.
