iOS Keyboard – Remove Keyboard and Dictation Icons in iOS 11.x Text Entry

When I open any text field so that the keyboard appears, there is a line under the keyboard with only two icons, the "world" icon that lets you change keyboards, and the "dictation" icon, which I will never use.

These take up a considerable amount of vertical space. Is there any way to turn these off?

UPDATE:

As you can see, there is a large blank portion below the keyboard. The world and microphone icon normally appear here, but even with them turned off you get all this space being wasted.

That gap is present on the iPhone X keyboard and at this time cannot be changed. You're not the only one who finds this irritating, so Apple might release a change in a future version of iOS, but for now you're unfortunately stuck with the gap.

Disable Siri

You can disable Dictation by disabling Siri. Navigate to Settings > General > Siri and turn Siri "Off".

Update PList File

However, understandably, you may want to use Siri, and since you have a jailbroken phone, this appears possible by editing a .plist.

As per this MacRumors post, edit the file /User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboard.plist. Edit it to add the following lines inside of the <dict> block:

<key>DictationOnSpaceKey</key>
<false/>

Update a different file

Using iFile, edit the file /Users/Library/ConfigurationProfiles/UserSettings.plist

Set restrictedBool > allowDictation > value to Off or false. It should look like this:

<key>allowDictation</key>
<dict>
  <key>value</key>
  <false/>
</dict>

Install "NoDictation"

NoDictation is a free jailbreak tweak available from the BigBoss repos (available by default on most iOS jailbreaks). If neither of the previous options work, it may.

The same thing happens to me periodically. It's so annoying when I can speak into the microphone and see the line wiggle around as if it is hearing what I'm saying but then when I finish it doesn't actually type any text for me. However, I just read online that sometimes you can fix it if you force close background apps (to free up memory) and also temporarily toggle into and out of Airplane Mode (to reset network connectivity). I haven't tried that myself yet.
