I used to be able to send txt messages from my computer through the native messages app on iOS. I recently updated and now I'm not able to send txt from my computer.
When I updated my OS, it restarted and when the screen came back on, it asked me to log into my apple id. For some reason the internet wasn't working or it wasn't connecting to the network and so I skipped putting in my appleid credentials. I looked online for some answers, but nothing satisfactory. Help?
Messages on an iPad can't send an SMS so you can't send a message to a non-Apple phone. You'll need an SMS apple like Google Voice for that.
There Shouldn't be any problem sending an SMS from Messages on the iPhone though.
I've never heard of a three month version of AppleCare but both the iPad Mini and iPhone 5 come with 90 days of free phone support and a year warranty so I don't know why Apple would want you to buy anything.
I've got several contacts that are offline in iMessage and they have gone through all the troubleshooting steps.
Everything points to this being a service disruption as opposed to something you or your contact has done wrong.

On your phone, go to Settings -> Messages -> Text Message Forwarding and make sure that "Text Messaging Forwarding" is turned on for your system.
