I've got a couple of barcode apps, but they all require that you have the item, the camera, and the internet connection at the same place.

Are there any barcode apps where you can take a picture of the item's barcode, store the picture, and then feed it into the app when you have an internet connection?

I use RedLaser and it has this capability. If RedLaser can't connect to the internet when you take the picture of the barcode, it will store the number and let you look it up later:

Yes it does. It has to verify the firmware with Apple's servers (gs.apple.com). If it cannot, it will error out (usually presenting a 3XXX error, which is quite often 3004) and fail to update.

You might install ImageMagick with brew install imagemagick and then use something like this:

convert -delay 4 *.png output.gif

-delay 4 sets the delay between frames to 0.04 s.
