Notes from my iMac do not appear on my iPad or iPhone, what could be wrong?

This is most easily done through iCloud, which should be the same account you sign in to the App Store with.
Go to System Preferences > iCloud. If you haven't already set up your iCloud account on your Mac, simply click on iCloud, and enter the username and password.
In the right side field, scroll down to "Notes" and tick the checkbox next to it. You may need to wait 5 or so minutes for iCloud to update.
On your iPad and iPhone, go to Settings > iCloud, scroll down to Notes and turn on the slider.
Nevermind, I managed to get it working following the advise of another discussion thread on the Apple forums; namely:
Same thing happend to me on my 3gs, i went to Settings...iCloud...Delete Account
then signed in again to add it. The iCloud inbox was displayed afterwards.
This also fixed the problem of notes, which now show up properly on the notes application.
This is a little like what happened to me, I posted a question here relating to notes that had gone missing too.
It seems that if you take a note while offline, when you sync with icloud it will sometimes without warning delete notes it does not know about :( Luckily in my case since I had made the note on my mac it created a recovery folder for me.
Perhaps your phone may have done a similar thing? If you open notes and hit the 'accounts' button at the top, is there a 'recovered items' folder?
