In Office in Windows, if you tap "Alt", letters appear all over the ribbon that illuminate how to navigate through it, switching tabs and hitting buttons to do anything that's on there.

Check out Evernote. There are Windows, Mac, iPhone, and web versions, and all your notes are synchronized to all your devices. You can even take pictures, include them in notes, and then search any text that was in the pictures.
You can get pretty close to what you want by turning off balloons.
In the "Track Changes" section of Word's preferences, uncheck the button that says "Use balloons to display changes."
Now additions and deletions are shown inline, and comments are shown as highlights with a reference.
You can view the comments by hovering over the highlight.
Or, you can display the "Review Pane" and view the comments (with additions and deletions interspersed) over there. Less distracting than balloons, though.

As of Office 2016, Microsoft has not implemented the Alt-shortcuts for the ribbon. However, there are several dozen other shortcuts that can be used on the Mac.
You didn't ask for any specific shortcut so I won't list any here. Also, there are so many that it would be impracticle to list them out. I know we try to avoid 'link-only' answers but in this case there's no way around it.
