How do I tell Safari to always open links that want a new window in a new tab?
I know I can use cmd-click to do this but that's not what I want.
There has to be a setting somewhere?

In Safari > Preferences > Tabs, there's a preference for setting when pages should open in windows or tabs.
Look here:
- Open Safari > Preferences and select Tabs along the top
- Under the option for "Open pages in tabs instead of windows:" select "Always" from the drop-down.
This will force every application to open links in tabs.
Right click on the icon and select “New Window”.

You can use Safari preferences (⌘ ,) to change this setting, you can use automatically or always for opening pages in new tabs instead of new windows.
