Apply display settings for a folder recursively

Question

When I change the display settings in Finder, it is only applied for the current folder that I'm in.

I want to apply a display settings for all (sub-)folders in ~/Pictures.

Since it's only for ~/Pictures, using the option 'Use as Defaults' will not help me. How can I do this?

Solution (thanks to @hobs)

The following tutorial uses an automator workflow. The workflow has to be run again when you add a new subdirectory to ~/Pictures.

Short answer, it isnt that easy, but if you are willing do to some work you can make it happen.

Use Unix find as follows

find . -maxdepth 1 -name config.txt -print

In Terminal, type man find for details.

If you do this often, you can make it into a shell function.

MacOS – Copy specific files and keep the subfolder structure

rsync -avh --include='*/' --include='*.xls' --exclude='*' path/to/sourceFolder/ path/to/destinationFolder

Note the / at the end of the source path, it's important. This solution would add all empty directories, if you don't want them, look at the option --prune-empty-dirs.

With brace expansion you can actually include more filetypes at once, rather than having

--include='*.xls' --include='*.pdf' --include='*.txt'

you can use

--include='*.'{xls,pdf,txt}
